The general aim of this project is the development of new markers for the diagnosis and prediction of gynaecological cancers (endometrial and ovarian), as well as the validation of therapies aimed at these patient populations.
Given the ambition of the project, a number of specific objectives have been defined:
- To establish a repository of endometrial and ovarian cancer samples together with clinicopathological and clinical monitoring data.
- To identify and validate prognostic markers in ovarian cancer through transcriptomics and proteomics; and in endometrial cancer, through proteomics.
- To validate the capacity of a panel of transcriptomic biomarkers to discern the histological subtype and grade of endometrial cancer tumours.
- To study and validate the expression profile of prognostic biomarkers of ovarian and endometrial cancer through multiple immunofluorescence.
- To determine the prognostic value of recurrence of specific stem cell markers through multiplex immunofluorescence.
