What is it used for?

Diagnostic imaging allows us to obtain images of the inside of the body to diagnose disorders, determine their severity, and monitor the response to treatments. Most imaging tests are painless, safe, and non-invasive.

Technologies that help you

Imaging tests may use radiation, such as x-rays, in the use of computed tomography (CT). They can also make the inside of the human body visible through sound waves, as in an ultrasound, or magnetic fields, as in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). In other cases, substances introduced into the body known as contrast agents may be used, or a radioisotope (tracer) may be injected into a vein, as in scintigraphy. The combination of the gamma camera and the CT scan is called a PET-CT scan and combines the X-rays from the CT scan and the gamma rays from the injected tracer.
