Chronic heart failure (CHF) with reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) remains a major health problem in developed countries with an increase in prevalence during the last decades related to the ageing of the population. Prevention is the most effective and efficient tool to combat this trend and cardiac rehabilitation programmes (CRP) are the most effective in secondary prevention. These programmes are on an outpatient basis and, despite their proven effectiveness, they are insufficient as less than 20% of CHF patients eligible for RhC attend the programme, a rate that is even lower in the case of Spain, being only 3-4%.
The project pursues the functional development of a telecardiology and telemonitoring tool and subsequent pilot testing in a real controlled environment of an RhC programme for CHF patients through the use of digital health technologies such as IoHT and Big Data to improve the quality of life of patients and the efficiency of health services.
